I hope you enjoy this special holiday. I also hope that in the midst of your celebrations and activities you and your family take some time to talk about the reason this day was set apart as a holiday; in the midst of enjoying your freedom to remember the incredible price of that freedom — for many have paid the ultimate price in defense of our country.

{This holiday holds special significance for my family this year, as our oldest son has chosen to follow in his grandfather’s and great-grandfather’s footsteps, serving in the Armed Forces by joining the Oklahoma National Guard. The unit he will join has just returned from Afghanistan where they lost several soldiers. Please join me in praying for their families and friends.}

Thank you so much for remembering this Holiday by writing about it. So many times today churches seem to have completely forgotten these men and women who have died and those who are currently great witnesses to the world as they serve God and country in many places.
My son too followed his grandfather’s footsteps and served in the US Navy. He was stationed in the Persian Gulf for a while.
A great set of Christian Devotionals is called Battlefields and Blessings and you can get these from Amazon. They are excellent for the military. They tell of God’s work in the lives of these people. Love pam
