There is something so very special about being outside working in God’s creation. I love everything about it. I am not a gardener, but I enjoy learning new things about gardening. Since we moved to our current house a couple of years ago I have been trying to learn a little more each year. One thing I have learned is that there is a lot to learn. Another thing I learned is that this grass/plant or whatever it is, grows big and it looks wild when it does.
It reminds me a little of my son’s hair for his senior picture a few years back. We didn’t care for his hair, but hey, pick your battles wisely (is what I was always told). Anyway, this plant gets bigger every year and we trim it back every spring. So, last month when we did our trimming, I took some pictures so you could get excited with me. Take a look at this mini-jungle.

Here is the exciting part though. A wise woman by the name of Susie Williams gave me a huge tip after we had spent hours cutting back those wild plants the WRONG WAY. Take a look at this:
Reminds me of something else when I think of going from unruly to ‘tidy and tame’.

Great gardening tip and great photos! Do you remember the children’s story “Moptop” by Don Freeman? Your son’s before and after photos remind me of that book. My boys loved that one when they were young!
So fun. Makes me want to get out and spruce up the yard. Good spring cleaning is good for the soul!! Love the pics of your son
