5 Years Tumor Free
Today we are celebrating our “Tumor free, 5 year anniversary”. It kind of has a ring to it, doesn’t it? Five years ago today, I was released from prison—an emotional, mental & physical cell that was not seen, yet, held me captive for years. It was an emotional and mental hell of sorts. It is incredible to comprehend how something so small (adenoma on my pituitary gland) can cause such devastation to a person’s entire being.
But TODAY--we celebrate God and we praise Him for the great things He has done! It has been a hard journey, but I improve and see progress with each passing year. And that’s where my focus lies.
For me, I celebrate because I learned more about God than just a name I had once studied. Jehovah-Shammah means the “Lord is There” and was first revealed in Ezekiel 48:35. I find this name glaring as I look back over the last 8 years. Because there were times I didn’t feel God was there and at my weakest times, I doubted if He ever was. However, in health, I know that He was indeed present through each phase, feeling and experience.
•God is There—He is there when you and I are scared, angry, hopeful, sad, crazy, helpless, alone, fragile, bewildered, uncertain, questioning, frustrated, faithless, distant, needy, exhausted, confused, forgetful, unlovable…
Friend, you can fill in the blank. “He is There” even when you are at your worst just as He is when you are at your best. He is There to help, strengthen and love you. So, today as I celebrate and praise God; I pray for you and whatever you are going through or may go through in the coming days. I pray that you will remember that God is present with you no matter how you feel or what lie you believe.
But as for me, God’s presence is my good. I have made the Lord God my refuge, so I can tell about all You do. Psalm 73:28
