A Moment to Cherish
When our children were young I couldn't imagine the day they would marry. Much less think about Steve marrying them (as he did our oldest) or giving our baby girl away at the altar like in this picture. We are far from being a perfect family, so please never think that just because I share moments like this it makes us different from you. We are in need of our Savior DAILY and probably more than you. But this...a moment like this makes all the junk that this life carries with it diminish greatly. It makes the sour sweet, the rough places smooth and the struggles turn into strength. For her earthly daddy to pray to her Heavenly Daddy on her wedding day like this; asking our God to grow them, protect them and use them mightily...goodness...I can't help but tear up at the sight of this cherished moment.
So for all the moms out there struggling to get through each day (like I did) and wondering how and when you might get relief or get sleep or eat in peace (or pee in peace! lol). This day will be here for you too. It may not look like this, but you can know that whatever it looks like for you that our God is right there with you.
Please hear this--the enemy wants you to believe that you are the only family that doesn't have "all their stuff together." He wants to make you feel alone and like a failure as a parent. But I'm here to tell you that we have a God who restores and mends the broken things. And we are ALL BROKEN! That is why we need a Savior. So if you are struggling in your parenting role. And who doesn't? Then I am here to tell you that Jesus is right there in your midst. We can lean on Him and trust Him. He has answered this mom's pleas for my children. But not all. I'm still waiting too. Just like you. I'm waiting to see His great and glorious plan unfold. I struggle to have faith. I struggle to have hope. I struggle to believe the things I've prayed for so long WILL HAPPEN. But then...He gives me a moment like this and in this moment I am reminded that my God is still at work and all those prayers that were lifted on behalf of my children are still being waged in the heavens right there at His throne.
So friend, don't give up. Keep praying for them and keep making the choices that always choose His ways and His love. Most of all...bear your heart to Him daily on their behalf. He is listening and He is at work whether we see it or not.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
In His love,
