Book Review on "Uninvited" by Lysa TerKeurst

Rarely do I find a book that speaks to me in so many ways throughout the entire book. But, I found it in Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely. Just the name itself makes me empathize with the feelings that arise from that revelation of being…uninvited. If you have ever struggled with the feelings of being unloved by someone significant in your life, then you will want to read this. You must read it! If you have grappled with understanding why you react the way you do to certain situations involving your friendships, then I believe you might just find some answers within these pages. So, read it!

I wish I would have had a book like this in my twenties to help me through those transitions into adult friendships and working relationships. Read what my twenty-four year old daughter, Brooke, had to say about this book on her Instagram feed:

“Y’all…I just about highlighted the whole book! Lysa is the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and she’s nothing short of incredible. She touches on how to handle rejection, lonely seasons, insecurities (we all have them) and broken relationships in light of God’s Word. I mean it’s really just the BEST!!” [Side note here—Brooke would love to have you follow her @brookeebooks.]

I don’t think this book is just for young people though. Lysa does a wonderful job of being vulnerable so that we see ourselves in similar situations. Feelings of insecurity can arise in the most unusual of ways. You will be reminded of God’s love for you and how we should look to God for our affirmation instead of other people.

I loved this book the most because I believe it gave me a way to understand myself better as well as to recognize what the enemy uses in my life (and in others) to cause shame, guilt and worthlessness. Understanding his ploys is one of the best ways to fight the attacks of the enemy with the weapons of God’s love and Truth!! I sincerely hope you will read it and consider gifting it to others!

In His Love,

Lori
