Book Review: The Fitting Room by Kelly Minter
Once again you find yourself in your closet. There amongst the ribbons of hanging colors you try to decide, as you do every other day, what to wear. It all comes down to a complicated equation of appointments during the day, who we will see (and who will see us), how much comfort can we incorporate, what color are we in the mood for and dare I say it…how we feel about our bodies today.
So much time spent on how we look on the outside! I was a bit convicted by this fact when I recently read The Fitting Room by Kelly Minter. It is based on the scripture in Colossians where Paul admonishes us to clothe ourselves with the virtues listed, such as compassion, kindness and patience.
With much humor and wonderful story telling, Kelly Minter weaves for us practical lessons in how to Biblically clothe ourselves. Each chapter is dedicated to a virtue. She has the kind of wit that makes you wish you could hang out together. Well, in a sense, you can by reading this book!
Although I read this on my own, there are discussion questions in the back of the book. It would be perfect for a small group (or even a large group) study.
Let me how you like it!
