Disappointments come in all shapes and sizes, don’t they? Maybe you were disappointed in Mother’s Day because of an unmet expectation. Maybe you can relate to having disappointments with your marriage, or disappointments with your children, or disappointments in others or yourself?
Let’s be honest, disappointments are a part of life. But what we do with those disappointments is our choice. We can let disappointments become a distraction from God or we can let disappointments lead to a determination about God.
Paul, the apostle had many disappointments in life yet he was able to say, “I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am in.” (Philippians 4:11). One way we can do that is by focusing on eternal things instead of this temporal life, as stated in Colossians 3:2–“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.”
Friend, the enemy wants your disappointment to lead to a distraction. But let’s make sure, with God’s help, that we are determined to draw closer to God through our disappointments. If you need prayer for a current or ongoing disappointment please respond below. We will pray for you! 💜
