Grad Gifts for Him

grad gifts This time of the year I look forward to going to the mailbox and finding I have received a graduation announcement. I love when the announcement comes with a picture and I can reminisce and marvel at how quickly the once little boy or girl has grown into a young man or woman. Every year, however, I am faced with the same dilemma: what do I get for the young men I have received announcements from? Girls always seem so easy, maybe because I am of the female persuasion! Boys are a different story though. Last year my oldest son graduated from high school so I got to see first hand what gifts really seem to hit the mark. By far the two gifts he has used the most are a very large laundry bag (he brings it home often) and a small overnight suitcase. The laundry bag is self-explanatory. It can be personalized with monogramming, or the graduates school colors. My son also received an overnight bag which he brings with him when he comes home. He carries his toiletries in it and a clean pair of clothes. This can also be purchased in school colors and monogrammed. My son also received bath towels as gifts. Monogramming is a good idea here too: it helps the graduate to keep his towels separate from his roommates. My son received a small plastic handled tote that had towels in it. The tote comes in very handy because when you live in a dorm you must carry your toiletries in and out of the shower each time. Shampoo, soap, shaving cream and razors can be left in the tote to carry to and from the bathroom. My son also enjoyed receiving gift cards to his favorite eating hang outs. With a little research, you can find out where those places are in the college town. Gift cards to stores where items such as bedding and dorm accessories were especially appreciated by mom and dad! A wonderful and timeless devotional book that I received when I graduated from high school and my son received also was My Utmost for His Highest, by Oswald Chambers. Along with the book, tuck in a note promising to keep the student in your prayers. Another gift that makes the graduate happy is money - although I am quite certain very little of it made it to college. Of course, all these gift ideas work for the young ladies on your list too. Which brings me back to my point: Girls are so much easier to shop for! If you are interested in reading more articles on graduation they can be found under the Everything Else tab.
