Keepers Connection Event a Huge Success!
Keepers & Cocoa was SO much FUN!!! I hope you were one of the women that gathered together in my home for a great night this past week. Somehow, we packed over 50 women in my house (without feeling too crammed). We were able to visit with long-time friends, meet some new ones, and become acquainted with those that we previously only knew through social media! We drank hot chocolate (look for the recipe below), laughed quite a bit, learned a new way to simplify and de-clutter our homes, gave away door prizes, and just had some good ‘ole girl time!
Patty Conrad was our wonderful and informative guest speaker. She shared from a book that she read titled The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and described how she is putting this concept into practice in her home and life. It was very educational and challenged and/or encouraged so many of us. We would love to hear from any, or all, of you that have already begun this innovative concept since you were here…really, we would love to get testimonies even a year from now!
I want to give a huge thanks to all of the ladies that helped bring all of the elements together for a fun evening! I especially want to thank Paige Redwine for organizing the event and to our friend Julie Hargrove for decorating our lovely cocoa table!
Thanks for coming and if you didn’t get to, then we hope you will watch for future announcements and join us as we continue the Keepers Connection events!
Rich Hot Cocoa
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cups milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup half & half
Combine the cocoa, sugar, and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water with a whisk. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch.
Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla and half & half.
This recipe makes 4 servings.
We got this delicious cocoa recipe from our own Keepers Team member Paige Redwine, who modified it from the Creamy Hot Cocoa recipe found on allrecipes.com.
