Parenting Principle #4 -Popular is Not Always Best

Posted by Lori Merrill on 05/10/2018

As parents, we sometimes must make decisions that are not popular or well received. We could be unpopular with:

• Our children
• Our children’s friends
• Other parents
• Extended Family

Because of this, it is good to be reminded that while unfavorable, they are good decisions if they are pleasing to the Lord. These decisions may:

• Upset our Children
• Cause us to stand alone
• Cause us stress to enforce them
• Be difficult to stand firm in
• Make us feel inadequate
• Tempt us to take an easier path

But, stand strong Moms! It is during these times we need to remember that our focus is to honor God in our parenting practices.

So, if our children determine to be mad at us, let it be for the right reasons because we know that what is popular with God is not always popular with men (or children!).

For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

In His Love,
Lori
