Experiencing pain because of our faith and remaining pliable in the Lord’s hand is one of the greatest challenges of our spiritual journey. In fact, I would say that the deeper your walk is with the Lord the more emotional and mental pain you may face. It could be heartache caused by relationships, grief because of sin you witness, persecution for your faith, being misunderstood because of what you do or don’t do or the stand you take, and it might even be from the truths you teach from God’s Word. Whatever the reason, just remember this world is not our home and the pain here is a reminder to look towards the hope we have of our eternal home.
Also remember the great hall of faith (Hebrews 11) of the ones who have gone before us and were used in mighty ways for the Lord. They should remain in our minds as an example of a life lived for God.
So, let’s make sure the pain we experience has a purpose. To push us deeper into our Lord and Savior as our help and hope.
“If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.”
