Trusting God with Your Child's Faith
When our children were young we did all we could to point them to and support them in their relationship with God. We taught them daily through our time together in His Word. But as we all know, we each have to make decisions about our faith as it becomes our own. So, how do we handle this, as parents, when we don’t see them walking with God as we had hoped?
There are times when I want to “fix/correct/direct” my children in their relationship with God. It isn’t because I have a need for control but rather it’s because of my deep desire to see them experience God and know Him in the ways that I have been blessed to.
However, it is at these times that my Father has gently reminded me that we each have our own spiritual journey and it is a relationship between Him and them. During these times, I have to give my worries and fears over to God—reminding myself, and God, that He knows & loves them more than I do. Who better to entrust them to?
So, if you are a mother that prayed and poured into your children and now see them in their teen or young adult years not walking with God, please know we serve a sovereign God who cares, hears and is intimately acquainted with all their ways. He is trustworthy of working in every single person’s life.
“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
