Where Strivings Cease

Comparison can be burdensome. It often creeps in unnoticed and roots itself deep into the crevices of our heart where we strive most. We look to the right or to the left and often find ourselves attempting to set standards to which we should meet, or even, rise above accordingly. Whether it be in the workplace, in motherhood, in marriage, or any other area of life, we are always finding ourselves falling short of this fluid standard with no hope in sight.

Christ calls us to something better. He beckons us to a pursuit {in all things} that finds itself centered on Him, who He is, and the work He has prepared for us. Where we compartmentalize and strive, He calls us to surrender to Him whole. Believing in Him, is to believe that He is Lord of and over all areas of our life.

Friends, He is not calling us to perfection --- He is calling us to holiness. This is where we can exhale with relief, because we can be free from the arduous ways we compare ourselves to others. Our standard is measured and achieved by the One living in us. We set our gaze on the One whom has come to redeem, sustain, and sanctify our lives complete.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
